Emoting

Emoting is another form of communication on the MOO. When you emote text, it is preceded by your name and is visible to everyone in your current room. Emoting is used to express non-verbal forms of communication--most frequently third-person descriptions of your current emotional or physical state.

The commands for emoting are emote <text>, : <text>, and ::<text>. The first two commands produce the same result. For example, if Jane types either

emote nods vigorously in agreement. or :nods vigorously in agreement.
the computer would produce

Jane nods vigorously in agreement.

The ::<text> command is used to remove the space between the person's name and the text. For example, if Jane types

::'s favorite color is green.
The result would be

Jane's favorite color is green.

If you want to send an emoted message to someone in a remote location on the MOO, you can use the commands

+<player> <text> and ++<player><command>.
If Jane types +William would like you to join the discussion. William will have this message sent to him:

Jane would like you to join the discussion.

Likewise, if Jane types ++William 's favorite color is green. William will see

Jane's favorite color is green.

For a complete list of commands for emoting, you can type help emote.
